Static website hosting

Upload your HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images. A portfolio or landing page can go online without PHP or a database.

The files your browser needs

Put index.html at the project root and keep its assets in the folders used by your links. You can upload the files with the browser file manager or SFTP.

If you use a frontend build tool, upload the generated files from dist or build. The source project and node_modules are not the published website.

How to publish it

  1. Create the project

    Register, verify your email and choose a project name in the dashboard.

  2. Prepare the published files

    Use index.html as the homepage. If you used a build tool, locate the generated output, often named dist or build.

  3. Upload the output, keeping paths

    Put the output contents at the project root. Keep the referenced assets in their matching folders.

  4. Check links and mobile layout

    Open the public URL and navigate between pages. Check image paths, filename case and a narrow-screen layout.

Example file

index.html
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
  <title>My static website</title>
  <link rel="stylesheet" href="assets/style.css">
</head>
<body>
  <h1>My static website</h1>
  <p>HTML, CSS and browser JavaScript.</p>
  <a href="about.html">About this project</a>
</body>
</html>

Example only — replace placeholders before using it.

Common questions

Can I publish a React or Vue project?

You can upload a build that produces static files. Features that require a Node.js server or server-side rendering are a different workload and are not provided by static hosting.

Why is the homepage missing after ZIP upload?

Check whether index.html is inside an extra parent folder. Move the actual site contents into the project root and check the referenced asset paths.

Can a static contact form save data by itself?

Not on the server without a backend or an appropriate external service. For your own server-side validation and saved records, use PHP and optionally MySQL.
